Scythe Blades
1SR-2010 Haying Blades
New for 2010. Available in 65, 75, & 85cm lengths, so far. This new model is the result of a research and development project conducted by Gerhard Wagner, consulting engineer for the SFX factory. His goal was to design a scythe blade "that mows the nicest". It has a moderate hook-nose, so that it has the same angle of penetration as the other blades below, but at a more open hafting angle, resulting in more cut grass per stroke. It has an awesome slicing power! By the end of a scythe workshop, these are everyone's favorite blades. Triple-peened, super-sharp, and ready-to-mow. Best for mowing well-maintained hayfields, and for cleaning up pastures. If you're serious about making a lot of hay, this may be the blade for you. For more info see blog -

85cm "Schwanensense" Field Blade
Our 85cm (34 inch) Austrian scythe blade for mowing larger areas of hay and grain. 85cm (34in.) long, 65mm wide at midpoint, and weighs 618g. These were custom-made for us in Austria. Excellent workmanship! The hafting angle is perfectly set for mowing with a side shift. The tang angle is set for the snaths that we sell. Same high quality metal as our other grass blades. Easy to hone and peen. The width enables the blade to have a pronounced "belly" and "rocker", which makes the blade very stable, and easy to control over rough ground, such as a formerly plowed field, or an untended meadow. It won't get hung up like skinny blades often do. The simple and direct shape would make it easy to attune with a homemade grain cradle. This is also my best model for mowing lawns. Triple peened and ready-to-mow. This big blade makes mowing even more fun! - SOLD OUT - $95.00
70cm Fux "Gartensense" Garden Blade
Our 70cm (28 inch) grass blade. 50mm wide. Good for all vegetation in the green and succulent stage; grass, tender weeds, clovers, cover-crops etc. Long enough to be a field blade for shorter mowers, short enough to be a trimming blade for taller mowers. Triple-peened and hand-finished by the factory. Super sharp and ready-to-mow. - $80.00
60cm Fux "Gartensense" Garden Blade
Our 60cm (24 inch) grass blade. 50mm wide. A great, all-purpose blade for shorter mowers. It's absolute magic on our shorter snaths. A good trimming blade for taller mowers. Good for all green and succulent vegetation: grass, tender weeds, cover-crops, etc. Triple-peened and hand-finished by the factory. Super-sharp and ready-to-mow. -$70.00
50cm Fux Light Bush Blade
A light bush blade. 50cm (20 inches) long. 65mm wide. Tang angle is set for our snaths. Good for mature weeds with woodier stems, such as: brambles, thistles, ragweed, lambsquarters, etc. and tree seedlings. Traditionally these are not sharpened by peening. Instead they are sharpened by honing it first with an artificial whetstone or mill file, followed by a natural stone. Factory sharpened and ready-to-mow.- $65.00 out-of-stock
New! - 120cm Fux Competition Scythe Blade
120cm (48in.) long. "Hartstahl" steel (hard steel). Maehfertig (factory sharpened, and ready-to-mow). For more info on competition mowing, see blog. These blades are too long for the snaths that we sell. The 4 ft blade has too much leverage. I carry them for people that are experimenting with making their own competition style snaths.- $145.00
